Progress at Al Wahda Milat School

We are enormously grateful to all of the donors supporting this project. Many individual donors have given generously and we thank them all for their kindness.

A special Thank You is due to Make Humanity Great Again, founded and driven by Eddie Izzard, and managed by The Talent Fund. Their generous grant has been put to good use – The school’s war-ravaged buildings have been restored, along with repairs to lavatories and washrooms; a solar-powered electrical system has been installed; a computer and printer have been purchased; funding has been provided to support six volunteer teachers; and all of the children have been individually issued with pencils and notebooks.

Another special Thank You is due to Joyce Nettles. Joyce continues to be a tireless supporter of the project, introducing working partners and individual donors, along with donating generously herself. We also express our gratitude to Action for Child Trauma for providing a remote workshop for the school’s teachers; Action for Humanity for helping us with the difficult task of getting various physical items into Yemen; both UNICEF and the Yemen Education Coordination Cluster for their oversight support; and Islamic Relief for connecting Twins and Tamdeen Youth Foundation with one another.

Kind donations from members of the public have enabled us to purchase desks and school bags for the children, and office equipment for the teaching and administrative staff. We have also been able to provide digital equipment, to help the children in building their relationship with their twin school in the UK, and ‘Dominos for the Blind’. Several of Ahmed’s siblings and other children at the school are blind, it being an endemic problem there. We have also been able to provide further financial support for volunteer teachers.
